From 1992-2007, the piping business was part of West Welding’s operations in Teuva.

Industrial piping systems have been produced by various Viafin Oy subsidiaries throughout history. In 2008 Viafin Oy made a strategic decision to invest in the growth of its industrial piping business; one year later the first actual regional offices were established in Jämsä and Pori.

In 2011, the company’s business was incorporated as Viafin Process Piping Oy.

In September of the same year, the company made its first acquisition and expanded its operations to Keminmaa.

In 2012-2016, Viafin Process Piping Oy further expanded its regional network and opened new service units in Kurikka, Tampere, Vantaa and Lappeenranta. The business of the Vantaa service unit, established in autumn 2016, was incorporated as Viafin Uusimaa Piping Oy in autumn 2017.

Viafin Installation Oy was created at the end of 2017, when Viafin West Welding decided to focus on its machine shop business and sold its installation and maintenance business to Viafin Installation Oy.

In spring 2018, Viafin Process Piping Oy expanded its business into hydraulics and small piping systems.In the summer of 2018, Viafin Service Oyj Group, which focuses on maintenance and installation business, was formed and Viafin Installation and Viafin Process Piping Oy became its subsidiaries.
The Group was listed on Nasdaq Helsinki First North in November 2018.

In February 2019, Viafin Service Oyj acquired Gasum Tekniika Oy, whose new business name Viafin GAS Oy was introduced in April 2019. Viafin GAS Oy provides a wide range of bio and natural gas utilisation services.

In 2019, Viafin Oulu Piping Oy was established in Oulu. In the same year, Viafin Industrial Service Oy was founded, providing comprehensive maintenance and upkeep services for industrial production equipment. To support this business, Astepa Oy was acquired in 2020, operating under the name Viafin Industrial Service Kaakkois-Suomi Oy. In 2021, to accelerate maintenance and service business, Viafin Industrial Service Pohjanmaa Oy was established in Ostrobothnia and Viafin Industrial Service Keski-Suomi Oy was established in Jyväskylä.

In December 2022, Stora Enso Veitsiluoto Oy and Viafin Industrial Service Meri-Lappi Oy, a new industrial maintenance business company belonging to the Viafin Service Oyj Group, entered into a multi-year cooperation agreement for maintenance and operation services in the Veitsiluoto area. The agreement came into effect on January 1, 2023.

In January 2024, the company implemented its growth strategy and strengthened its expertise in wind turbine maintenance by acquiring the Wind Group business from JL Steel Group Oy.

In February 2024, the company expanded its service portfolio by acquiring OT Service Oy, primarily providing mechanical maintenance and machine shop services in Northern Finland. With this acquisition, approximately 90 employees joined Viafin Service starting from March 1, 2024.
